Glendaruel is nestled between Halfmoon Bay & Golden Bay. Overlooking Paterson Inlet & Ulva Island, it is bordered on two sides by uninterrupted vistas of native forest, alive with birdsong. The village of Oban on one side and the water taxis to Ulva Island Bird Sanctuary on the other are but a few minutes walk away.

Glendaruel garden is a fusion of native and exotic plantings and extends over several levels and melds into the forest. Birds love it! Tui, kaka, weka and, increasingly, kiwi patrol the paths.

Helping you to make the most of your time on this beautiful island is my focus. I meet you at the ferry or air terminal and take you back at the end of your stay.

One Queen, one King/Twin, one Single, each with ensuite. The rooms are quiet, private and guest-friendly with chairs and table, fresh flowers and a range of coffees, teas and cookies.

Guest Lounge:
Relax in the upstairs lounge and on adjoining balconies overlooking Paterson Inlet and the forest canopy. Lots of music and books, TV and DVD’s.

Meals are served in the sunroom overlooking a forested valley. Start each day with a cooked or continental breakfast. A priority at Glendaruel is fresh food, local where possible, cooked simply. Rhubarb from my garden, free range eggs, freshly ground coffee.

Round off a lovely day with a home-cooked three-course meal, available by arrangement. Alternatively you are welcome to bring “home” the scrumptious fish ‘n’ chips from the local Kai Kart and dine in comfort.

One of the loveliest occasions shared with guests is a bbq of fish they have brought back from a local fishing trip, about a kilo of expertly filleted fish.

Wedding Planning:
With your host Raylene's local knowledge and contacts, she is happy to help co-ordinate your big day - venue (church, beautiful beach, local hall) marriage celebrant, restaurant, transport, flowers (displays, posies, sprays etc.) using our beautiful native plants.
