Using Social Networks in Your Wedding Planning

Social network sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Ning and others have become part of our everyday lives. While some people have embraced these mediums for linking and communicating with friends, there are also many social network sites, Bridal Clubs and groups that focus on specifically on weddings. Participating in these can provide you with a rich source of information and give great help when planning your wedding.

An example of this is Bride Space. This online wedding forum provides a place where brides can ask those tricky questions that you don’t often find answers to in the wedding planning books or magazines. One person asked “I am just about to book my photographer/videographer (done by the same company) and I don’t know if I am to include them in our dinner or not? We are charged $140 per person at the venue we have booked which covers all food and alcohol for the night.  Do I need to include the photographers (there will be 2 or 3 of them)?”  Other brides and people in the wedding industry have been able to give their response to this question.

Other questions that are asked have been “Has anybody got any tips/idea's or know anyone that has been married over in Rarotonga?” to which a travel agent and others were able to provide some great information. Another has been “Has anyone gotten/getting married at Elizabeth House? We have chosen it but I am just a bit unsure about the fact the dance floor is on the carpet”. The answers to these questions and more have helped brides learn from other people’s experience and making sure that their own wedding goes smoothly.

A wedding social network provides much more than a magazine or book in that it is interactive, putting you in touch with real people sharing their own experiences and ideas. It doesn’t usually cost anything to be part of a network and the benefits make it a worthwhile part of your wedding planning.
