Ideas for Mini-Ceremonies

Sand Ceremony

The sand ceremony is where there are three containers, two with sand and one without.

Words:  "Today, this relationship is symbolized through the pouring of these two individual containers of sand one, representing you BRIDE and all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be, and the other representing you, GROOM, and all that you were and all that you are, and all that you will ever be.  As these two containers of sand are poured into the third container, the individual

containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one.  Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be."

The bride and groom then pour their containers into the third.

Candle ceremony:

The candle ceremony is similar but replaces the sand with candles.  Two candles are lit at the start of the ceremony to symbolize the two individuals that come together to the marriage ceremony.  After the signing of the register, the bride and groom each take their candle and together they light the third.  They then blow out their candles symbolizing that their two lives have now become one.

Butterfly ceremony:

The butterfly symbolizes new beginnings and rebirths. What better way to celebrate the beginning of a new life together than with the releasing of butterflies at your wedding. Every release is unique and special just as every wedding and every moment of our life is unique and special.
